Taj Mahal

The world's tallest brick minaret and UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Its construction was commenced during the reign of India's first Muslim ruler Qutb-ud-din Aibak and was completed during Firuz Shah Tughluq. It is one of the earliest and most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture.

It is like the Gateway that welcomes the visitors arriving by boat to the city of Mumbai. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Delhi Durbar. Its architecture represents a unique harmony between the Muslim and the Hindu way of construction work and this is considered as one of the best architectural specimens of the world.

Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah built this famous structure to commemorate the elimination of a plague epidemic from this city in 1591.
